Magnesium sacrificial anodes provide cathodic protection for buried or submerged metal structures, including pipelines, storage tanks and gas or water networks. Connected to the structure, the more active magnesium corrodes preferentially and helps extend the service life of the protected metal.

The high electrochemical potential is suitable for high-resistivity soils. Each anode is supplied in a regulating backfill of gypsum, bentonite and sodium sulphate and is individually wrapped to exclude moisture during storage; the plastic wrapping must be removed at installation.
